*Long-form improv: a style of improvisational theatre where performers create interconnected scenes, characters, and stories in real-time, typically based on a suggestion, or as in Improv: The Play’s case, a hybrid scene using written text.
Each actor brings a two-person scene from a play. They’re only allowed to say their lines, as written. The improvisers have no lines and no prior knowledge about the play or scene. They can only improvise. The improv ensemble will then use those scenes to create long-form improv*.
